We took the morning ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo and learned that motorcycles can go to the front of the line for boarding. First on and first off.
We're staying overnight with E's cousin Marguerite at her home on a hill top on Twiggly Wiggly Road off Jingle Pot Road. She has 90 trees on her lot and on a clear day, she can see the ocean over her tree tops. She's also a gourmet cook and we enjoyed delicious salmon with pesto potato salad and stir fry vegs with a layer cake of straw/blue/rasp berries....yummy. Waffles with fresh strawberries for breakfast. We had to leave before we gained too many extra pounds.
We met John, an arborist, who lives on his boat on the Island and takes his boat to various islands to provide his services. He's a bit of a "free spirit", who moved west, from Calgary and Ottawa, to enjoy the great weather of the Island.
I'm very impressed with the variety of flowers on the Island.
We're heading to Tofino, our most westerly point for our trip.
regards to all,
Anne
