Another warm and sunny day. We have had 22 days of great driving conditions with only a few drops of rain. We count ourselves very lucky.
We started our drive today through the BC Delta area with the majestic Mt. Baker within sight and then we moved on to vineyards and the fruit producing area of the Okanagan. We climbed mountain ranges and then down again around switchbacks. One minute we would be in desert like conditions, cross a mountain range and then descend into the green oasis of Osoyoos and then back to desert type conditions. All along there would be pockets of brilliant green where homes or farms rely on irrigation. We fear what may happen if water becomes limited or expensive.in Western Canada.
We travelled through places such as Abbotsford and Mission, a hot bed of vineyards. After a long day on the road and many kilometres covered, we made it to Grand Forks to visit with E's cousin Michael, where we were fortunate to stay for the night. There is a major baseball tournament held in Grand Forks every Labour Day weekend and all rooms were taken.
regards to all,
Anne

Mount Baker prominent in the background for many miles
Welocme to Abbotsford
Riding through the flat Delta area of BC rich with farm crops
More typical roads
Climbing into the clouds, for 14 km - what a feeling!!!
--- with some amazing blue skies
Green crops dependent on irrigation
--- very dry in some areas without.
Suddenly, fruit - with these pear trees growing like large grape vines
--- more pockets of heavily laiden fruit trees
--- and fruit stands along they way
