It's been quite the past 2 days. On a very sad note, we learned yesterday of the tragic death of Evan's cousin's wife who was a flight attendant on the First Air plane that crashed at Resolute Bay. Our thoughts are with Ute and Jim's families.
Yesterday, we took a secondary road and saw remnants of the devastation caused by this past year's spring flooding around the Portage La Prairie area. It is hard to appreciate the devastation without actually seeing the damage.
Last night we stayed in Neepawa, Manitoba (the birth place of Margaret Laurence). This morning, due to an infection, I went to emerg at the local hospital and received quick and pleasant treatment and medication.
Near Russell today, we lost the chrome cover off the exhaust because the pipe had split. While Evan backtracked to try to find it, I spent time talking with a local retired farmer, who grew seed grain and raised charlois. He claims that farmers in this area are doing well although many would complain otherwise.
In Yorkton, Evan purchased parts from the local Canadian Tire and was able to repairs the exhaust.
The Prairies aren't as flat as I had expected. The beauty is amazing with the golden fields and the blue of the sky. The combines are busy in the fields.

Cutting road grass along the Yellowhead Trail
Amazing landscape, a complete contrast to what I'm surrounded by in the big city. Thanks for the photos and stories. Wish I were there to see the sights with you.
